The Gerbera Daisy is a classic flower found in most bouquets and floral arrangements. With literally thousands of varieties in both colour and petal shape, every Gerbera is stunning, making a dramatic statement wherever it’s placed. These flowers make excellent cut blooms, eagerly drinking up as much water as you can provide, which allows them to display their incredible beauty.
When grown in gardens or outdoor containers, Gerberas require full sun but don’t thrive in intense heat. In areas with extreme afternoon temperatures, partial shade during peak sun hours is recommended. Throughout the growing season, Gerberas love water, so be sure to provide regular watering. If grown indoors during the non-growing season, water less frequently. Deadheading spent flowers will encourage new blooms, allowing you to enjoy their vibrant display for even longer.
In warmer climates, Gerberas are considered perennials, returning year after year, while in colder regions, they’re typically treated as annuals. However, with proper care, you can overwinter Gerberas and have them return in the spring.
