In the garden, Gladiolus thrives in a sunny location with well-draining soil. Plant in late spring, once the risk of frost has passed, and stagger the planting over a few weeks to enjoy continuous blooms throughout the season. From planting to bloom, it typically takes 60-90 days for these spectacular flowers to appear.
Due to their height and the weight of the blossoms, Gladiolus plants require support to showcase their flowers properly. Staking is recommended, and planting near fences or other structures can help protect them from high winds. Depending on when the corms are planted, Gladiolus will keep flowering right up until frost. When the season ends, dig up the corms and store them in a cool, dry place until next spring, and enjoy them again year after year.
