The Ranunculus is another spectacular wonder of nature — a truly stunning flower filled with delicate, paper-thin petals that come together to form an extraordinary bloom. The petals are so soft, they feel like silk. Thanks to their luxurious appearance, Ranunculus are a popular choice in bridal bouquets and floral arrangements where elegance is key. They look beautiful in any vase, room, or bouquet, and their popularity has made them a common addition to home gardens as well.
Ranunculus are typically planted as corms — small, bulb-like structures — which are the easiest way to introduce these floral gems into your garden. They prefer full sun and thrive in loamy or well-draining soil. Avoid heavy clay or compacted soils, as they can cause the corms to rot. For best results, plant directly into the garden after the risk of frost has passed, or in containers indoors. It’s recommended to pre-soak the corms in water for 3–4 hours before planting to give them a healthy head start.
Ranunculus prefer cooler temperatures and generally do not perform well in humid conditions. Depending on the variety, most will bloom from spring through early summer. Once flowering is complete, deadheading (removing spent blooms) can help prolong the blooming period. In colder climates, corms should be dug up at the end of the season. Gently remove excess soil, rinse with water, and allow them to dry completely before storing in a cool, dry place for the winter. If stored correctly, they can be replanted the following season and will return year after year with stunning blooms.
Please note: Ranunculus are toxic to both humans and pets. It's best to plant them in areas where children or animals cannot access them.
When seasonally available, you’ll find Ranunculus in countless colours and shades in our fresh flower selection — and available all year round in our artificial offerings. Either way, adding Ranunculus to your home or office will never disappoint!
